Please like, check the board, and see what groups may need you for hands-on help!
Thank You for being in service to others,
Katrina's Angels is a non-profit organization that exists to support communities
affected by disasters and is driven by the generosity of its
volunteers. We need people willing to lend a hand as well as people
willing to coordinate efforts. All positions are purely unpaid,
voluntary positions. Will you help?
Other Positions Available:
Community Angels - We need volunteers who would like to help others following Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. You could start by collecting in-kind donations (such as coats, blankets, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, towels, bleach, any freebies or sample sizes as well) locally; then help to get those supplies to local disaster survivors.
You can keep us informed with reports from local news, updating us on local power outages, curfews in the area, and where to find shelters, food or cleanup supplies. Work on site or from home!
In the meantime, you can volunteer from home using your computer to search the Internet, enter data, type e-mails, and make phone calls when needed. Make contacts with your community to list resources for the web site, including local Salvation Army, church clothes closets, or other groups, as well as announcements in the event of local disasters. Community Angels report to the Resource Director.
Community Coordinators - Coordinate and enhance the efforts of Community Angel volunteers in your own community. We are preparing to help in the areas affected by Hurricane Isaac. Work with Angels to identify helpful agencies and resources in the community!
May work with agencies and organizations to identify and communicate with survivors in your own community to match them with various opportunities from our partner organizations.
OR Working from home, you can check the phone book and the internet and list places like distribution sites for water, food, and ice; shelters, blue roofs (tarps), medical care, and other resources during crises on our Facebook page for KA~Isaac. Reports directly to the Resource Director. Help scope out needs on forums, googling small town web sites, etc., helping Katrina's Angels to locate those communities that become forgotten pockets of need following disasters like this hurricane. Perhaps be willing to pass out items in disaster areas if the disaster has happened close to home. This would entail collecting donations and items and sending or taking them to a local disaster area, simply passing them out in the name of Katrina's Angels. All donations are tax-deductible.
Report the needs of your community and update results to the Resource Director.
Fund Raising Angels - Help Katrina's Angels to help the survivors of hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, or other natural disasters in the U.S. Among those we help are uninsured families, the elderly, and the disabled who have fallen through the cracks. Right now, we are trying to raise money to help tornado survivors.
Help us by conducting a gift card drive, car wash, or new underwear/new sox or shampoo/toothpaste/sanitizer drive. We are willing to listen to your suggestions.
Experience with fund raisers is helpful, but not necessary. We like to say we give people a hand up, not just a handout.
Holding a local fund raiser for Katrina's Angels, Inc. would be great! Get a group together and help. All monies are tax-deductible as we are a registered non-profit. We can supply fliers or poster designs.
