Hi Karen! Hope everything is going well with you and your family. We are doing fine as well. We haven't heard from you in a while. We wanted to let you know that we served 35 families with the supplies you sent down and still counting. They are so proud that they want us to come by to see the improvement they have made. We thank God for you and your staff. One of our staff is going to post it on the relief data base as I was told. Thank you again.
Karen
Feb. 2008:
We have been able to help at least 5 families with what you have sent so far. There are still lost of needs for other things, but we have
given so many a very good start, and the will to keep fighting for more help. We are still so happy to be able to give out flooring and lighting
to the people in our area, its great.
Some of our families are asking for windows, new or used, new or used doors, crown moulding, cool-seal (it's for patching up roofs) and any type
of building supplies: plywood , sheet rock, lumber... You have made all of our lives a little better to live since you have been donating, so
please continue to do what GOD HAS YOU TO DO.
Sincerely Yours Sis Valerie Liddell Wife of Rev. Alex Liddell of H.O.P.E. Missions. Inc.
Jan. 2008: I’m sorry I have not contacted you sooner. We received the building supplies Thursday the 17th. We have already distributed flooring to several of our homes. We are in the process of lining up volunteers to put the tiles that were sent into several other homes. Please thank your donor for the people in Lakeshore (MS) for us.
God Bless,
Greg

Dear Cheryl,
Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. I also want to thank you for the time you took purchasing our items. All of it will be wonderful and will make many children very happy. I will take lots of pictures and then have them developed on a CD so that I can send them to you or email them to you. Thank you for keeping New Orleans and the surrounding areas still in the picture. There is still great needs over here. Katrina's Angels are wonderful.

1-22-07 Ms Janet,
I received your gift card today, thank you so much. We got them each 2 toys and socks and underwear that were much needed. I will be finishing college soon and look forward to be getting a much better paying job, so that next year i can help someone like you have helped me. Someone else helped us this year too but gave us toys that were for younger children, so i passed those on to a single mom i work with who did not get help this year. We believe and i teach my kids the army values of service and commitment and honor. When someone helps us even if we don't have much we in turn help someone else , pay the kindess forward like on home makeover. Have yourself and your family a very merry christmas and thank you so much from mike , kim, andreana and dakota radford. I will save you to my book so that maybe next year i can help you help someonelse.
Again, Thank you for giving my children a nice christmas, without it i didn't know what we would do. My landlord gave us a little more time to come up with the back rent since it is christmas so it seems someone is watching out for us. Thank you.
1-22-07 Hi Karen,
I wanted to say thanks for all you are doing and I am glad to be a part of an organization that is doing all it can to help those in need.

Karen Thanks so much for the pictures. They are great. My kids especially enjoyed seeing the child holding the story bear they recognized and the hot air balloon held by the man. My dad donated it and the kids thought it was fun that a man resembling pop-pop was holding it. Thanks for the great Christmas cheer. Angels watch over you. Julie and kids

Karen, I wanted to personally let you know how meaningful the Thanksgiving Dinner was to the people. I thought we would have a larger turn out of KA volunteers, but I do understand everyone has a life and volunteering takes so much of our time up. You planned a successful dinner. We were so blessed to have the women of the church. They were such hard workers and the AmeriCore staff of volunteers were astounding. What you and KA volunteers planned and accomplished with such little man power left me in awe. I only showed up the day of the event to be a servant, your task started many months ago for this event. You are not only a beautiful lady, but are an amazing women. Honestly, your picture on the web site does not do you justice, you are gorgeous. I know not everything went according to plans, but I did not here one complaint at all. That church is full of the most loving people I have ever met. I was overwhelmed with gratitude to finally meet those, whom I have talked with for many months. I had never met anyone except Cheryl Bystrak and Pauline. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do. I love you!!!! Have a Great WEEK, Sincerely, Rochelle Puccio Administrative Asst., CFO Lincoln Enterprises

09-05-06 Hi Lynn, Sorry it took so long to get back with you. Well, lets see Eric bought over so much stuff. I loved the sofa and one of the chairs that came. The chair and desk that I asked for came in handy too although I had to put the desk together myself. (I almost ruined it because I am not good and putting things together) I received a beautiful dining room table and chairs. The other stuff was mostly things I did not need so I just gave away. I let my neighbors come over and go through it. I really appreciated what I received no matter if I could use it or not. It was an opportunity to give to other people who needed things as well.

Thank you to everyone who helped me with phone numbers, websites and emails of people that would help me with my cat. I found a organization called Feline Veternary Emergency Services that will pay up to $300.00 to help. I have also been in touch with a lady, one of Katrina's Angels that is also willing to assist with the cost. Thanks Julie. I have set up her appointment in the morning because the clinic is closed. I will give you all updates of how she is doing. Words can not really express how greatful I feel. Thank you again to everyone who took out the time to help me. Without these emails, the Katrinas Angels website and all of the members, I don't know what I would have done. May God bless you all and I pray that we will continue to help and support each other.
Respectfully, Roxanne

Katrina's Angels were there as soon as humanly possible to help. Kristen (Guardian Angel) calls me all the time to check on me. She made it possible for me to get much of what I needed replaced. I will never begin to thank her. Ya'll are a Godsent. Thanks to ya'll I have just about everything I need for my kitchen. I do however have another request if it's not too much trouble. I need clothing. I am a size 4X. God bless you, I pray for ya'll every night. Love, Lady in Long Beach, MS
Dear Lynne,
Thanks for checking on us. Katrina Angels perfomred a wonderful job on my father's home. These tasks could not have been completed without your angels. Their high spirited personalities was very contagious! Though things are still moving rather slowly for us, we are getting there, and your angels helped us move forward in a major way. There is really no words you can say for an organization such as Katrina Angels. You guys are truly heaven sent, or as my 13 year old would say, "YOU GUYS ROCK"!!! Thank you so much for all you have done. With much love and Respect. Mildred Freemon, daughter to Cleveland Robinson New Orleans, La
Karen, I just had to write to tell you how overjoyed I was to receive the donations of such wonderful people. We moved into our new house this weekend. It is so nice to after all this time have your own space again. I cannot express enough the gratitude that we feel. I am getting in touch with the TV station that did Magnum Force to let them know how much blessed I truly feel to have received their selfless gift. The gift certificates were wonderful and so helpful. It is amazing how many things you never realize you need until you start moving into a new house. Please let all the Katrina's angels know that they are just that -- ANGELS. All my thanks and from my family as well, In love, Jessica (name withheld)
5/21/06 At a time when my son and daughter and I, and our huge menagerie of cats and dogs, were facing the possibility of homelessness, Katrina's Angels came to our rescue. Specifically, our "angel" was Leslie Teltoe. Upon learning of our unfortunate predicament, Leslie told us about the Louisiana Down Payment Assistance Program, a program to help people, including low-income persons, purchase a home. My son and I completed the brief application forms, then faxed them to the mortgage company. Only a few days later we were told that, together, my son and I would be able to purchase our own home! Our hearts go out to Katrina's Angels, and our "Angel Leslie," for all the love and caring you have given to us and all the many, many other people whose lives you have touched. Bless you for being there. Family in Slidell, LA
hey Karen How are you during ? Met your angels the other night. They are great. I did get to meet them. They are lifesavers. Germaine was very happy; and please it was good to see her up in spirits again. The kids will like all the gifts. I really like the things that y'all are doing, it is great. Holla at me if you get some time . Thanks and keep up the good work. Let me know where i stand. later have a happy jack day on me.
Thank You to Katrina's angels, Katrina's ToyBox, Janet, Karen, Diane in Fl, Cherie, Keefe and all Katrina's Angels. You all really are angels. May God bless each and everyone of you. Thank you for all of your help, it brightened the lives of me and my family. When all others failed, God brought me to you all. All the information that you post helps all of us who survived the hurricanes. Thank You from me & the kids, and we are blessed to have known and talked with you all Family in Houston, TX
AN EASTER PROJECT BETWEEN TWO VOLUNTEERS: When Pauline came down to visit me in Louisiana two weeks before Easter, she made up 25-50 Easter baskets. She left 25 with me, of which I passed some out on Good Friday to local sick kids. To some, I added books, fruits and mints , etc.... things I thought adults would like. I took those to a nursing home close by where I know of several evacuees still being housed due to their nursing home being gone from Katrina and no family available. The elderly people were so over joyous. The nursing home called today to say Thank You again and that some of the folks had drew & colored Pauline and I some pictures. So Pauline, Thank You from these folks that your heart and kindness has BLESSED again. Acts of KINDNESS would change this world if we all continued to do them every time we received one. Waking up in the morning is a blessing which means we should then start each day off Blessing someone else. I love you Pauline, Thank GOD that you love him because it shows in all you do. On Dec 23rd I received a very heart warming card from Latonya B. and family in GA. It's not often we hear from the families we help so I want to share the card I rec'd. The sentiment inside the card really touched me and I wanted to share it with you because everyone at Katrina's Angels helped many families have a wonderful Christmas. "Your thoughtfulness has a way of touching lives... of making days a little brighter, hearts a little happier, and problems seem a whole lot smaller. It's people like you who make the difference in this world. and though you may not hear it often, you are appreciated very much. Your kindness will never be forgotten." She also provided a personal note: Dear Janet, We are grateful for your thoughtfulness. Throughout this experience many of us are looking at this as a blessing. I know my faith and trust in God has grown tremendously. Your letter gave me tears of joy. Just knowing that there are people in this world who are willing to help is none other than the works of our father and savior. I am glad to know you in spirit. I am so grateful for your generosity. Latonya B and family. Janet Arp Director of Resources Katrina's Angels.org
I live in Spring, TX, just north of Houston, where many residence of New Orleans and the surround area were displaced to after Katrina. If not for the help of Katrina's Angels and many other people those of us here could not have done all that we were about to do for these people. Leslie Teltoe of CA; Jeff and Lisa Hynes of Exeter, NH;Michael and Teresa Alberts of Elyria, OH; someone from Culver City, CA; Bill and Lou Scott of Athens, TX; Stan and Janet Moore of Colorado City, TX; a radio Dj from Gearhart, OR; Corey Taylor of Conroe, TX; Mary Williams of Huntsville, TX; Stacy Masico of Friendswood, TX; Curtis and Kelly Murphy of Spring, TX; Peggy Rucker of Spring, TX - these are just a few of the people who sent clothes, shoes, toys, household items, gas cards, gift cards, glasses, ect. to my house for me to give to all the people who needed them. If not for the help of all the Katrina's Angels and all the internet readers, I would hae never been able to help near as many people as much as I did. I thank God for them and all the people who received the help were very appreciative and over whelmed with the goodness they received

Yellow Ribbons - A Sign of Hope for my Parish We lost much "stuff" in the surge of Katrina and the oil spill to follow but in the end it is not about "stuff". It is about being away from friends, family and familiar environments. It is about friends and family separated and a new life forming. One of uncertainty but there is hope. In the beginning you hoped to get out of New Orleans. And then you hoped to find out everyone was alive and slowly checked off that list of family and friends. Slowly hope filled you one family member and one neighbor at a time. Then you hoped that everything you were hearing about the flood waters and your home and the type of damage as they slowly pumped muddy water out was not true. Then when you were finally let back in... you hoped on that day when you went to see your home that something could be s ave but yet found next to nothing. You hope to see a friend, a neighbor again just a familiar face but yet you were surrounded by the vast devastation and the greyness of the mud covered lawns and streets. You hope that a relative might come visit but in your hope of all hopes nothing can put my neighborhood back the way it was. Only hope can rebuild my neighborhood over time. In our St. Bernard Parish we are tying yellow ribbons in front of the houses to say... WE ARE REBUILDING! It is a sign of HOPE to our St. Bernard Parish Community and to each and everyone who sees the ribbons from the families to the volunteers to the relief workers. There is a way to see HOPE in the form of a yellow ribbon. I am excited about putting mine up... Are you?
Amanda
Rochelle, Thank you thank you thank you for the baby bed. My mother in law picked it up and had my baby sleep at her house this weekend while I was out of town. She slept like an angel in it. Thank you again for telling us about your neighbors bed. We appreciate it!!.
Leslie, I just wanted to write you back and say "Thank You so much!" There aren't enough words to express how much I appreciate you! And as you have probably already gathered from our conversation the other day, that's a rare situation for me to be in you know, to run out of words.
(Big Smile) But seriously, you have been extremely helpful and sweet! I feel like we've been friends forever. I wish I could meet you to thank you in person. I won't always be in such a terrible position though, so if there is ever anything you need, all you have to do is call me, which might I add, you'll be able to do when I receive my new phone from Verizon! I called them a little while ago and they're sending me the application! Again, Thank you Leslie! When I get my phone, I am going to call you and give you my new phone number. I also e-mailed visionsite.org, which was the bottom link that you sent to me. Hopefully they can help
(Name witheld by request). Thank you for looking out for us!

Grateful to be here
My family and I decided to leave New Orleans on Saturday, August 28th to stay with my daughter.
We left in five cars with thirty-two people, two of them were one month old twin girls (Taylor & Chelsa).
Our plans were to stay with my daughter until Tuesday and then return to New Orleans. We brought movies,
board games and a couple of outfits each for our standard “hurricane party”. Our family usually had one during the hurricane season each year. We never left New Orleans before for these parties, they were always held at one of our houses until the hurricane passed.
As the Katrina disaster unfolded before our eyes on national TV, we looked at each other in shock. I thought it was a bad dream, I just knew
I would wake up and it would be over. We slept in beds, on the sofa and the floors for a week, and then realized that we since we could not
go home, we needed to move out of my daughter’s house, because there were too many people in it. We were getting restless, stressed and
uncomfortable.
We went to the Reunion Center in Dallas, Texas to sign up with Red Cross Relief Services. Standing outside of the Reunion Center
were three wonderful young ladies who were members of the same church. They came down to help hurricane evacuees, but were not
allowed in the building because Red Cross refused to allow them to do so. As I stood in line, one of them walked up to me and
asked how could she help. I gave her my business card and told her that this is who I used to be. She said that you are still that person,
you are just homeless, and it will be alright and I cried.
She promised to call me with some help, and so did Red Cross. To this date, Red Cross never did call me but she did. She called more than
once. She found me an apartment, and had a friend to provide an air mattress and some needed food. The three young ladies came to visit us.
One of my daughter’s inlaws needed a new tire to travel to Mississippi with her three kids so she could live with another sister. One of their sisters drowned during Katrina and they needed to bury her. The young ladies collected money on their jobs and bought the tire and even provided $50 for gas.
These three young ladies looked like angels to me. I cry every time I think about them. They formed a group called Core Assistance,
which I happily joined later. I am so grateful to be here and so excited that people have poured out their hearts to help us.
I’ve never been on the receiving end before, this all so new to me. I’ve joined Core Assistance, Habitat for Humanity, and Katrina’s Angels.
I promised God I will always remember to help other people. I am just so grateful for the people who came out to help us in our time of need.
I’ve lost my home, car and job, but I am healthy and alive and so is my family. I feel so blessed ! that God has touched the hearts of so many
loving people, and I want him to use me as well.

Dearest Lillie, Thank! you so much for your submission to our 'Stories of Hope' webpage. Reading it, and absorbing your words, it made me realize that it must be impossible to fill one short page to describe what it is to go through a catastrophe such as this. It inspires me to continue this grassroots effort, and incites an even deeper love and respect for my fellow human family counterparts. I am very grateful to you for giving back after having lost so much. It's very humbling to see person after person such as yourself, sign up to make a difference with Katrina's Angels, and other organizations. I just wanted to let you know, how much I appreciate what you are doing. Although it may be hard to see on the surface, you and everyone walking through this complicated maze of rebuilding your lives, are very loved, cared for, and deeply honored. I for one, w! ill never abandon my efforts, and am in this for the long haul, whatever it takes. That is my personal commitment to you and everyone el! se touched by these storms. Please know you and everyone concerned are in my heart, and in my prayers.
Respectfully,
Leslie (fellow Katrina's Angels volunteer)

Hey Conni,
Thank you so much for putting your time and effort to help me and my family. At that time I felt like poor me and that no one cared. And you proved my negative thinking wrong when you called me. You gave me a feeling of hope! Thank you and God bless you. Remember, don't forget to tell others about "katrinasangels.org" and sign up the "Angel Tree." Well, I will talk to you again. Bye :)

Hi Leslie,
I received the toaster for my parents. It's perfect, my mom loves it. Thanks sooooo much. you have put a smile on my mom's face, and thats kind of hard to do right now. That was so nice of you to help my parents in their time of need. May God bless you and you will always be close in our hearts.
Thanks again,

Dear Katrina's Angels Thank you so much for your donation of all the stuffed animals. My father, Brian Clement, rides in the Babylon parade every Mardi Gras, and will also be riding in Zulu this coming season. Instead of throwing plenty of beads, cups or dabloons, he loves to throw stuffed animals to the children in the crowd. Because of your generous donation, many children will be catching stuffed animals at these parades. Thanks for all you have done for our beautiful city! Jessica
